Untersuchungen zum tribologischen System "abgedichtetes Wälzlager"

Abstract

In order to gain insight into the mechanisms acting in the tribological contacts of protective seals for rolling element bearings, two research projects-FVA 432 I and FVA 432 II-were initiated by the Research Association for Drive Systems (FVA) and funded by AiF. The results of these projects allow selecting different seal types based on the criteria "friction loss", "thermal impact" and "capability to exclude contaminants". Furthermore, models for explaining and predicting the sealing behaviour with respect to these criteria were developed and verified.
