On April 15 and 16, 2026, the second working group meeting of the DFG Priority Program 2305, currently in its second funding phase, took place on the Mechanical Engineering Campus.
The researchers of the subprojects presented their progress in the three working groups: Energy Management and Harvesting, Data Transmission and Update Capability, and Reliability Testing. In subsequent workshops, common requirements and standards were developed, along with plans for publications and further collaborations. The program was complemented by guided tours of the IMKT and the Institute for Microproduction Technology (IMPT) as well as guest lectures.
The meeting strengthened collaboration among the various research institutes and provided inspiration for further cooperation.
The priority program investigates the scientific foundations for sensor-integrated machine elements (SiME) and their methodologically supported design and system integration. The goal is to equip machine elements such as screws, bearings, or gears directly with sensor systems in order to collect and evaluate process-relevant data in situ. This represents a key technology for digitalization in mechanical engineering.
