ELGI-STLE 2025

On October 29–30, 2025, Dr.-Ing. Volker Schneider participated in the ELGI–STLE Tribology Exchange Workshop. The event once again brought together numerous experts from industry and academia to foster international exchange on current challenges in lubrication technology, particularly in the context of electrification and sustainable mobility.

In his presentation, Dr.-Ing. Schneider shared recent findings on bearing currents and the lifetime of electrically stressed rolling bearings. His talk focused on experimental investigations of damage mechanisms under electrical loading and on an extended lifetime prediction model that combines measurement data and simulation to more accurately assess the reliability of bearings in electrified drive systems.

In addition to the engaging technical presentations, the workshop offered ample opportunities for in-depth discussions – from novel testing methods and modeling approaches to practical solutions for industrial applications. A highly successful event that provided valuable impulses for ongoing research and development at IMKT.
