On June 19, 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming Jonas Welsch from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, to the IMKT at Leibniz University Hannover.
During his visit, he presented current research on poly-CMUT ultrasonic sensor technology. His presentation served as the foundation for an in-depth scientific exchange regarding innovative sensor and measurement solutions.
This was followed by detailed discussions centered on the demonstrators and microscope-based inspections. The focus was on both the poly-CMUT systems and the sensor-integrated rolling bearings at the IMKT. A tour of the laboratories provided further opportunities to discuss current research approaches, challenges, and future collaboration possibilities in depth.
The visit concluded successfully with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering’s campus festival, which offered an informal setting for continued exchange.
Many thanks to Jonas Welsch for the fascinating insights and stimulating technical discussions. International scientific dialogue is a vital driver of innovation and research.
