As part of the Africa Conference in Tribology, Dr.-Ing. Florian Pape presented recent IMKT research findings on the development of bio-based lubricating greases. The presentation aligned with the conference's focus on sustainability and contributed to the promotion of environmentally friendly lubricants.
The study investigated novel greases based on palm oil in combination with biodegradable thickeners. Specifically, glycerin monostearate (GMS) is used to enhance consistency and thermal stability, while soybean wax (SW) improves elasticity and low-temperature performance. By utilizing renewable raw materials, these biogreases offer promising potential to support long-term CO₂ reduction goals.
